Central University has established the Counselling and Career Services Directorate with the mandate to promote a healthy campus environment and enhance student learning.
The Directorate is to help both students and staff to deal with psychosocial barriers to success and personal wellbeing and maintain balance for teaching, learning and life.
We operate from the philosophy that every student has the potential to succeed academically, professionally, and personally. Our role is to identify and remove obstacles — psychological, social, financial, or vocational — that prevent students from reaching their full potential.
Our services are rooted in evidence-based counselling practices, adapted to the Ghanaian university context, and delivered with confidentiality, empathy, and professionalism.

An internship is a supervised, work-place-based, experiential learning opportunity. It allows students to connect theory learned in the classroom with practical application, explore career paths, develop new skills and make valuable professional connections.
A component of a larger, integrated academic degree programme — such as preceptorship, clinical rotation, or attachment. Academically-directed, supervised by faculty members, and graded based on explicit requirements in the course syllabus.
Undertaken by Level 200 and 300 students — including ATHE Diploma students — whose programme does not require internship, but provides opportunity to be grounded in the reality of work life. Coordinated during long vacation periods (July–October).
Level 200 and 300 students can apply for voluntary internship placement. Click below to submit your request.

ICGC and Central University — one family, one mission: raising whole students in faith, learning and service.
Central University Ghana is owned by the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) — a relationship that goes far deeper than governance. The church-university partnership is a vision of shared ministry: assemblies, ministers and members across the ICGC family walking alongside CU students as they grow academically, professionally and spiritually.
Through the Counselling & Career Services Directorate (CCSD), there are three practical ways every assembly can get involved: giving to students in crisis, opening doors to work experience, and partnering in pastoral care.
ICGC assemblies, ministers and individual members can give to the CUcare Student Care and Emergency Response Fund — providing bursaries, mental-health emergency support and welfare relief for CU students in need.
Assembly leaders, professionals and business owners are invited to register as internship host organisations, offering voluntary internship slots (July–October) to Level 200 and 300 CU students, coordinated through CCSD.
CU and ICGC can collaborate in many areas beyond internship and mentorship. Our students can work alongside congregations to support major events and activities. Contact us to find out more, or to suggest areas of collaboration.
Enquire About Areas of Partnership →The CUcare Fund is CCSD's dedicated welfare pool that provides emergency bursaries, mental‑health crisis support, and relief grants to CU students in genuine need. Funded entirely by the generosity of individuals, churches, and organisations, CUcare ensures that no student has to drop out due to financial hardship or a personal crisis they cannot face alone.
Your assembly can partner with CUcare by making a one-time or recurring donation, mobilising members to give, or designating a tithe/offering to the fund. Every cedi reaches a student directly — no administration fee is deducted from donations.
Reach the CCSD partnership desk — we will walk your assembly through any of the three tracks.
